The famous swimming pigs in the Bahamas are having a hard time. According to a report in Stuff.co.nz, seven of the pigs were found dead on Big Major Cay - otherwise known as "Pig Beach."
The island that the pigs call home is 80 nautical miles from Nassau but it has become popular with people who come to swim and photograph the pigs as well as other wildlife. Recently, however, tourists have been feeding the animals.
"We have people coming there giving the pigs beer, rum, riding on top of them, all kind of stuff. That never happened, but lately [it has] because it's so big, and we are never really there all the time," says Wayde Nixon to the Nassau Guardian. Nixon takes credit for creating the pig colony on the island as far back as 30 years ago.

There is not yet any conclusive evidence as to what happened to the pigs.
"It could be malicious, but I don't really see why someone would go out of their way to hurt those lovely animals," Bahamas Humane Society president Kim Aranha tells the Tribune 242.
