Everyone has that one favorite movie they've watched a thousand times. You love the characters, the story or the setting, and you know the lines by heart.

Obviously, there's nothing more you'd rather do on a trip than visit a location from said movie, just so you can follow in the footsteps of your favorite characters.

Luckily for all of us, many major directors use everyday restaurants, bars and diners as the backdrop to their on-screen storylines, meaning you can go and order up some food while recreating our best-loved scenes.

Here are four of finest:

The Hotel Bar from 'Lost in Translation' in Tokyo

This is the bar where main stars Bob (Bill Murray) and Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson) spend time bonding during the critically-acclaimed film. The bar is actually called New York Bar and is located on the 52nd floor of the Park Hyatt Hotel in Tokyo, offering great views of the city skyline.

Because of the bar's popularity, staff insist that any photographs taken are done in a respectful manner with regards to hotel guests, so take your selfies with caution.

What to order: The signature L.I.T cocktail, named after the movie, made with sake, cherry flower liqueur, peach liqueur and cranberry.

Mendl's Bakery from 'The Grand Budapest Hotel'

The beautiful interior of the fictitious Mendl's Bakery was actually shot inside a famous dairy shop in Dresden called Pfund's, which dates back to the late 19th Century. Aside from the intricate eggshell blue and cream wall tiles, the shop does actually also sell a range of artisanal cheese, milk soap and baked stollen cakes at Christmastime.

There's also an on-site restaurant. Unfortunately, they don't sell the movie's signature Courtesan au Chocolat cake, so you'll have to settle for cheesecake instead.

Be forewarned: Despite the large number of tourists who visit this iconic spot, there are signs everywhere that say "no photos".

What to order: Try a shot of the dairy's own milk grappa, a fairly strong milk-based brandy.

The Brazilian Restaurant from 'Bridesmaids'

If the sight of the cast of Bridesmaids getting just a little sick after eating at a "Brazilian" restaurant during Lillian's wedding preparations hasn't put you off, then you should definitely eat here. Off the screen, it's actually a Mexican restaurant called La Sirenita, located in Van Nuys, California.

In the movie, you see the girls enter the restaurant from the parking lot, so don't be surprised if you can't recognize the entrance straight away.

Locals love the oysters, fajitas and spicy salsa here. Don't worry, they have always gotten an A on their health inspection report so it's unlikely you'll fall foul of the bridesmaids' same fate.

What to order: Enjoy a michelada cocktail while you listen to the live mariachi music and peruse the menu.

The Proposal Restaurant from 'Love Actually'

Nobody can forget the famous proposal between Colin Firth's character Jamie and his Portuguese love interest Aurelia towards the end of Love Actually. Although the restaurant she was working at was supposedly in Portugal, it was actually filmed at a bar in the south of France.

Le Bar de la Marine is an institution on the Marseille bar scene, and the spiral staircase at the top of which Aurelia stands is instantly recognizable when you enter. But I'd recommend ordering a drink, soaking in the vintage interior for a minute before heading out to the al fresco waterside terrace.

What to order: A beer or pastis from the large drinks menu, best sipped while looking out across the port.
