Is there anything that Chris Jericho can't do?
I wouldn't give him that challenge because he'll achieve whatever you ask of him. Not only is he a legend in professional wrestling, the front man for the extremely popular heavy metal band "Fozzy," host of the Talk is Jericho podcast (which just announced that it's expanding) and the author of four best-selling books, but Jericho has now made a name for himself in the travel industry.
It's only fitting maaaaannnn-if you get that reference you know Jericho's wrestling persona well-considering the Canadian native has been on the road and around the world since he was only 19 years old, when he started touring as a wrestler in Japan and then in Mexico.
"You can't just wrestle a healthy career from your house," said Jericho, who was born Chris Irvine.
Since then, he has traveled the world: "Name something and I've been there. In my earlier days of traveling, I went out of my way to go take pictures and see things. It was the wonder of being in a new place for the first time."
Today, Jericho calls traveling both a perk and a necessary evil of his very busy career: "There's a lot of stress with traveling and, when you're on the road, you just want to get ready for your show or performance."
However, Jericho is such an experienced traveler that he easily takes it all in when something goes wrong:
"If flights are delayed or canceled, there's nothing you can do about it. A more nervous traveler might get angry. If they lose my bag, I just give them my number and get out of there. I'll get it back when I get it back."
Jericho was recently in Japan again-he's been there at least 52 times and counting, he says-to face Kenny Omega in a New Japan Pro-Wrestling Co., Ltd. headliner match. To get there, you can most-likely find Jericho flying first class.
"I can't do it any other way; it's easier," he said. "Also, being a diamond member with Delta makes it easier, and the TSA Pre-Check all make a difference."
However, Jericho would ideally prefer to fly in a private jet.
"I wish I was rich enough just to buy a private jet," he said. "I don't care if I live in a cardboard box and have a burlap sack to wear for clothes. If I could just have that private jet and only fly that way, it would make traveling worthwhile."
Wouldn't we all?
"Fozzy played the Kiss cruise a couple of years ago, and it was such a great experience from a professional and fan standpoint," said Jericho, who called his manager as soon as he got off the boat to get his cruise started. "I'm known for wrestling and rock 'n roll, and I knew the cruise needed to focus on those things."
Two years after he created the idea of the all-inclusive cruise, it's ready to go. The best part for Jericho fans is that you'll actually get to hang out with him, members of Fozzy and a number of professional wrestlers.
"It's not like there is a sequestered area where the talent hangs out," he said. "The cruise is music, wrestling, comedy and podcasting, a one-stop shop of the things I like."
Some of the special cruise guests include professional wrestlers Cody Rhodes, Young Bucks, Mick Foley, Diamond Dallas Page, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat and Raven, and comedians Jim Breuer, Ron Funches and Brad Williams.
In addition, Jericho will marry-yes, really marry-one couple on the cruise.
"Why not?" he laughed.
