Officials from the Disneyland Resort announced that the
upcoming Adventureland Treehouse, inspired by Walt Disney’s Swiss Family
Robinson, will open to the public on November 10.
Adventureland Treehouse will pay tribute to the original
treehouse Walt Disney and his Imagineers built in 1962, but will incorporate a
new story for the next generation of visitors to experience and enjoy.
As part of the story, the family welcomes guests into their
home, highlighting some of its most unique aspects, including the mother’s
music den, the sons’ nature room and the daughter’s astronomer’s loft.
In the mother’s room, guests will find musical instruments,
including a harp, lute, guitar and organ, while the twin brothers have packed
their room with an extensive collection of plants and animals.
As for the daughter’s room, it provides a clear view of the
beautiful night sky where she spends her time tracking stars, planets and
comets with her many telescopes.
In addition to a kitchen, dining room and the father’s art
studio, visitors can find the home’s iconic waterwheel adjacent to the
stairwell, which is powered by a small brook. The family created a pulley
system to deliver water from the stream into the tree, creating enough power to
activate many of the treehouse’s gadgets and inventions.
The original plans to build the new Disneyland
attraction were announced last November.
