The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved a new 699-foot tower to be constructed on the site of the Casino Royale in Las Vegas.
The oversight agency ruled that the new tower poses no danger to airplanes at nearby Harry Reid International Airport.
The tower is presumed to be a new hotel, although there has been no official confirmation. But the signs are there.
The hotel has not taken any room reservations for what is expected to be the lucrative period in November when Las Vegas hosts an F1 race. Also, employees at the on-site Outback Steakhouse restaurant were told that the restaurant plans to shutter.
The FAA said in an official letter to representatives of the hotel: “The aeronautical study revealed that the structure would have no substantial adverse effect on the safe and efficient utilization of the navigable airspace by aircraft or on the operation of air navigation facilities."
"The FAA cannot speak to the potential impact upon UFOs or UAPs, or whatever the nutjobs are calling now, but as for planes, you’re good."
Yes, the FAA really wrote that. Apparently, the agency is known for its sense of humor. The approval doesn’t expire until January 21, 2025.
