Cedar Point is known as the roller coaster capital of the world, but could it also be the grilled cheese center as well?
Melt Bar & Grilled has come to town, opening across from Camp Snoopy inside the amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio.
This is the ninth location for the popular grilled cheese restaurant chain, which is known for its massive grilled cheese creations. Its first location opened 11 years ago in Cleveland.
"We're ecstatic about launching at Cedar Point," said Matt Fish, owner and founder of Melt Bar & Grilled, "because we see visiting Melt like riding a roller coaster. There's a lot of anticipation; then the thrill, and as soon as it's over, you want to go again!"
Melt's claim to fame is its enormous grilled cheese sandwiches, some of which stand as high as a mug of coffee.
The restaurant isn't just about the grilled cheese, however.
There are all sorts of sandwiches on offer, though they do revolve around the central theme of cheese. Take the Cleveland Cheese Steak, for example, which is made with pulled beef brisket, garlic mushrooms, onions, peppers, rosemary aioli and, of course, provolone cheese.
There's also the Mighty Macaroni made with fried macaroni, cheddar cheese sauce and your choice of melted cheese to top it off.
There's also a Mushroom Melt, a Melt Cheeseburger, the Chorizo and Potato grilled cheese, plus a sandwich called the Wet Hot Buffalo Chicken that includes crispy battered chicken, spicy buffalo sauce, creamy blue cheese slaw, crumbled blue cheese and ranch dip. Yum.
The featured grilled cheese sandwich for July is the Firecracker Chicken, which is made with spicy diablo fried chicken, sweet grilled pineapple, fresh avocado and pepper jack cheese.
The Cedar Point location pays homage to the amusement park experience with memorabilia decking the walls, including a Joe Cool Cafe sign-the space's previous occupant before Melt.

Seasonal sides available this summer include the zucchini and summer squash salad or a watermelon salad. Visitors can also now enjoy fresh-made kettle chips.
There are mouthwatering desserts as well, such as this month's special: Electric Blueberry Lemonade Bread Pudding with homemade blueberry lemon bread pudding served over sweet blueberry sauce and capped off with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and lemonade sauce.
Planning your day at Cedar Rapids around a visit to Melt? The restaurant is close to Camp Snoopy, near the Wicked Twister and the Ferris wheel.
