While Rice-A-Roni might be the self-proclaimed San Francisco treat, there are many who would argue that Ghirardelli Chocolate is the true icon of tempting treats in the City by the Bay.
If you think there's nothing quite so sweet as an ice cream sundae covered with Ghirardelli chocolate, you might only be half right. What could be sweeter? How about a free Ghirardelli sundae?
Come Monday, locals and visitors, alike, will be able to experiment to see if ice cream is indeed sweeter when it's free when Ghirardelli serves up bowls of its signature treat gratis at its iconic 900 North Point Street location.
According to SFGate, Ghirardelli will be dishing out about 500 free sundaes between noon and 2 p.m. on Monday, April 30.
Planning to spend some time in San Francisco early this week? We recommend arriving at Ghirardelli early, as an offer this sweet will surely draw big crowds.
The promotion, apparently, is in celebration of Ghirardelli's new partnership with United Airlines. Last week, United announced it would be upping its culinary game on some of its transcontinental U.S. flights.
The new menus will include offerings such as an egg and chicken chorizo breakfast taco and a new barbecue chicken sandwich for lunch and dinner.
Travelers in business class will now enjoy Ghirardelli Sundae toppings on their in-flight dessert, including Barista Dark Chocolate Mini Chips, Ghirardelli Hot Fudge sauce, Ghirardelli Caramel sauce and Barista Caramel Flavored Mini Chips.
United has also announced it will become the first airline to serve Stella Artois beer on board. The airline will also begin serving favorite brews from local microbreweries.
