On Monday, Universal Studios Hollywood was forced to close its gates to guests after the theme park broke attendance records and reached capacity for the first time in its history.
According to KTLA.com, industry experts believe Universal Studios Hollywood hosted more than 40,000 visitors Monday, but an official number won't be released due to the park's policy of not reporting daily attendance numbers.
The rush of guests was so great that Universal Studios Hollywood closed its gates to new customers just after noon.
The record-breaking attendance comes after the amusement park invested $1.6-billion in the facility since 2014. Some of the new attractions added included the "Fast and Furious: Supercharged" ride, the "Wizarding World of Harry Potter" expansion and a permanent haunted maze themed after the hit television series "The Walking Dead."
In addition to Universal Studios Hollywood hitting capacity this week, the Disneyland Resort reported that it too hit its capacity Wednesday and was turning away guests. The theme park had avoided any capacity issues throughout the holiday season but reached its limit on the first day all annual pass holders were valid.
For theme park enthusiasts, now is not the right time to enjoy the park without crowds.
