As the United
States gears up to celebrate its 250th
anniversary this July, a new television special is encouraging travelers
and history enthusiasts alike to experience the story of our nation's founding from
a fresh perspective.
Traveling With Denella:
America 250, hosted by award-winning travel expert and television
personality Denella Ri'chard, is now airing nationwide in 100 television
markets through syndication agreements with ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and
CW-affiliated stations.
The broadcast reaches
more than 60 million U.S. households and is also being aired on the American
Forces Network (AFN), making it available to U.S. military personnel and their
families stationed at bases, on ships and at embassies in 168 countries around
the world.
Exploring
America's Revolutionary Roots
Rather than
focusing solely on well-known landmarks and historical sites, the program takes
viewers on a journey through destinations that played a role in America's
founding, highlighting both familiar and lesser-known stories from the
Revolutionary era.
Filmed on location
in places you learn about in history books, like Boston and Philadelphia,
as well as unexpected areas like Lafayette, Louisiana, the special combines
travel experiences, historical insights and local perspectives to help bring
the country's early history to life.
"This is not
just a history lesson, it's an invitation to walk in the footsteps of the
people who built America and discover stories that continue to inspire us
today," said Denella Ri'chard. "America 250 is an opportunity to
reflect on where we've been, celebrate how far we've come, and inspire future
generations."
The production has
already received industry recognition, earning both a 2026 Gold Telly Award in
the History category and a 2026 Silver People's Telly Award.
The special
arrives at a time when destinations across the country are preparing for
America's Semiquincentennial celebration and tourism organizations are looking
for new ways to get travelers involved with the nation's history.
Destination
Partners Help Bring History to Life
Several
destination marketing organizations partnered on the project, including Meet
Boston, Visit Philadelphia and Lafayette Travel. The organizations helped
provide access to historical sites, cultural experiences and local experts
featured throughout the program.
In Louisiana,
Lafayette Travel is also hosting a free community screening of the special on
June 3 at Moncus Theater inside the Acadiana Center for the Arts. The event is
being presented in partnership with the Galvez Chapter of the National Society
Daughters of the American Revolution and the Acadian Memorial.
Viewers can check
local television listings for broadcast times in their area. Following the
national rollout, Traveling With Denella: America 250 will also be available to
stream on Denella
Ri'chard's YouTube channel beginning July 3, 2026.
The special is
part of Ri'chard's ongoing Traveling With Denella series, which highlights
destinations, cultures, history and travel experiences around the world through
an inclusive storytelling lens. Airing weekly across the country, the show is
known for its immersive storytelling, polished production quality and emphasis
on highlighting diverse perspectives in travel.
