Costa Rica is the Perfect Spring Destination
Features & Advice Patrick Clarke March 29, 2017

Still searching for the perfect destination for a relaxing spring getaway that won't break the bank and leave you surrounded by tourists on a crowded beach? Consider Costa Rica.
The Central American destination continually flies under the radar, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a reason why. There's an endless amount to explore, tons of world-class, family-friendly hotels and resorts, along with tremendous culture to absorb.
Still not sold? Here are five more reasons to book a trip to Costa Rica:
Reduced Airfares Through Spring
If you're worried that just getting to Costa Rica will blow up your budget, think again. There are a ton of excellent flight deals available right now, whether flying into Liberia or San Jose.
Earlier this year, the Thrifty Traveler reported on some stellar roundtrip flight deals between several major U.S. cities and the two aforementioned Costa Rican destinations, many of which are even nonstop. Sample fares between Miami and San Jose were available for under $200, while Midwest travelers flying out of Chicago could secure a roundtrip ticket to Costa Rica's capital for less than $275.
Tabacon Resort's "Take Me to The Springs" Package
Located between Liberia and San Jose, Costa Rica's award-winning Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa is currently offering a special "Take Me to The Springs" package that includes three nights for the price of two.
In addition to a free night, guests will receive daily buffet breakfast at Los Tucanes Restaurant, a welcome beverage and amenity, a dinner at Ave del Paraiso Restaurant, a $75 spa credit per person and free access to the Shangri-La Gardens. Plus, guests will be able to experience the resort's famous natural hot springs whenever they choose.
Travelers can purchase the package for under $1,000 with taxes included during the upcoming green season from April 17 to June 17.

Unrivaled Nature & Wildlife
Responsible for 6 percent of the planet's biodiversity, Costa Rica is a nature lover's paradise. The country is home to lively rainforests and national parks, as well as stunning beaches where visitors can explore even more unique wildlife from under the water.
Nowhere is Mother Nature's influence on Costa Rica more impressive than the Tabacon Hot Springs, home to cascading waterfalls and natural warm pools heated by the nearby Arenal Volcano.
Friendly Locals
Spanish may be the official language in Costa Rica, but English is widely spoken here, so navigating the country shouldn't be too difficult. What's more, ticos and ticas are among the friendliest hosts around and are sure to make you feel welcome.
The country recently scored high on the Happy Planet Index, ranking 10th out of 140 countries in well-being. Costa Rican economist Professor Mariano Rojas credits that result to the destination's "culture of forming solid social networks of friends, families and neighborhoods," according to the New Economics Foundation (NEF).
Pura Vida (Pure Life)
There's arguably no better place to let go of your stress than Costa Rica, where "Pura Vida" is the way of life embraced by the Costa Rican people. The term has many meanings but essentially boils down to eternal optimism and appreciating the little things we often overlook or take for granted.
The best part about Pura Vida? It's an attitude you can bring it home with you.
