A new study found the most common first names of tourists who were forced to file a travel insurance claim.
According to insurance company World Nomads, data from the last five years indicates an estimated 10 percent of all travel insurance claims came from tourists with the same 10 names; Michael, David, Matthew, Andrew, Daniel, Peter, Sarah, Thomas and Jessica.
For males, World Nomads said the names most often attached to insurance claims are Michael, David, Matthew, Andrew, Christopher, James, Daniel, Peter, Thomas and Paul.
As for female travelers, the names most commonly associated with travel insurance claims are Sarah, Jessica, Emma, Rebecca, Katherine, Emily, Hannah, Elizabeth, Nicole and Laura.
"Are Michaels and Sarahs inherently more adventurous? Who knows?" World Nomads travel safety expert Phil Sylvester said. "If you're thinking of starting a family and want them to be safe when they venture out into the world, you should consider giving them a different name."
As for the names least likely to be seen on a travel insurance claim, they are Yael, Kazia, Sylvie, Sunny, Saxon, Wilfried, Yolanda, Dakota, Zara and Tobi.
When purchasing travel insurance, customers will not be charged extra for having one of the most common names, but their monthly payments will be impacted by their age, destination and length of the journey.
