A survey recently conducted online by LGBT-friendly travel service OutOfOffice.com and Attitude Magazine revealed that 61% of LGBT individuals would not feel comfortable visiting a destination where homosexuality is illegal.

According to OutOfOffice.com, homosexuality is still illegal in more than 70 countries around the world. That puts a lot of restrictions on LGBT travelers.

In the same vein, the survey showed that LGBT travelers want to be able to visit wherever they want around the world without being restricted to LGBT-friendly destinations, OutOfOffice.com reported.

"It's clear that there is still a lot of trepidation when it comes to choosing where to travel as an LGBT individual," OutOfOffice.com founder and former ITV News journalist Darren Burn said. "Whilst there are parts of the world where it's dangerous to be LGBT, there are also parts of the world that outlaw homosexuality but that with the proper advice it is still safe to travel to such as India and the Maldives."

The survey also found that 52 percent of respondents traveled as a couple while only 21 percent traveled by themselves, OutOfOffice.com said. Sixty-four percent of survey participants said they would take up to two vacations lasting a week or more in Europe over the next year; 56 percent said they would spend the same amount of time anywhere in the world.

The survey revealed that Paris was the most popular city where people expected to travel over the next year; Barcelona and Amsterdam came in second and third, OutOfOffice.com reported.
