For many, seeing the world has become a priority. In fact, millennials believe that it tops home buying and paying off debt. So long-term travel is becoming more and more popular and with it, so too, are work visas in locations as far flung as Singapore and New Zealand. But Travel + Leisure notes that, in order to avoid obstacles, you should make sure you have the right paperwork with you.
What does that mean? First and foremost, you should know that there are many different types of visas that allow travelers to live and work abroad.
For some types of visas, the paperwork is simple.
"There are some countries that don't require visas or permits to work: Singapore, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, and South Korea, according to GoOverseas.com. These countries offer what's called a working holiday visa, meaning you can visit and work in these countries with a passport and enough money to support yourself in said destination," writes Erika Owen.
However, these visas are good for younger travelers, mostly between the ages of 18 and 30 years old.
Job-specific visas are another way to work abroad. These usually require a company to sponsor you.

"These types of visas are generally attached to one particular position within a company, meaning if you decide to leave the job, you'll also lose your work-sponsored visa," writes Owen.
