On April 9, Thomas Hartley, British high commissioner of The Bahamas, presented AnnaMaria and Enrico Garzaroli,
owners of the Graycliff Hotel and Restaurant, with the British Blue Plaque, the
first time the award has been presented outside of the United Kingdom.
The British Blue Plaque symbolizes “exceptional standards
recognizing venues that rise above other establishments and into a higher
echelon,” according to British High Commission and Graycliff officials. The Blue
Plaque recognizes the Graycliff for “outstanding contributions to promoting
English wines and spirits in The Bahamas.”
“The plaque signifies both the U.K.’s appreciation and
gratitude, as commended by the British high commissioner, and Graycliff’s
unwavering commitment to excellence that patrons can always expect,” said
officials in a statement.
The Graycliff maintains one of the world’s largest wine cellars,
which showcases rare British gins and Scotch whisky. Two award-winning English sparkling
wines were recently added to the famed cellar.
In presenting the award to Graycliff owners Enrico and Annamaria
Garzaroli, Hartley said, “We are celebrating Graycliff for their promotion of
the finest British spirits and English wines. Congratulations to Enrico,
Annamaria and the whole Graycliff team.”
“At Graycliff, we believe in exceeding expectations and
embracing innovation,” said Enrico Garzaroli. “Receiving the British Blue
Plaque from the British High Commission underscores our role as pioneers in
showcasing the finest British wines and spirits in The Bahamas.”
He added, “We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our
dedicated staff for their passion and expertise as we continue to elevate
standards and create memorable experiences for our patrons.”
