As the month of November begins, Mexico shines brightly with candlelight and colorful costumes during the famous Day of the Dead. Come to Sandos Caracol Eco Resort and discover one of Mexico's most ancient and magical festivities, honoring the deceased in an atmosphere filled with joy and fun.

You'll be blown away by awe-inspiring altars, flavorful food, good music and all the ancient traditions that celebrate life after death. Join us during this celebration to learn more about this holiday while enjoying all the activities we have in store for you.

Day 1

-Make Your Own Sugar Skull 11:00 am (Kid´s Club)

We'll provide all the materials the kids need so they can use their creativity to decorate and add their own style to the sugar skulls.

-Trick-or-Treat Crafts 12:00 pm (Kid´s Club)

It's time for the kids to make their own basket for Mexican-style trick-or-treating.

-Lively Catrina Parade with a Sinaloa Band 4:00 pm (Calzada de los Muertos)

Mexico's most iconic symbol of death and the main character in our Day of the Dead celebrations takes a stroll with her friends through SandosCaracol Eco Resort.

-Hotel Artisan Shops 5:00 - 10:00 pm (on the path to Las Máscaras)

A variety of handicrafts that display the region's colorful traditions.

-TraditionalArtisans 5:00 - 10:00 pm (Calzada de las Ánimas)

Meet local artisans and see their amazing creations, made with iconic Mexican folklore that reflects the diverse cultural and creative riches of our people.

-Day of the Dead Dinner 6:00 - 9:00 pm (around El Nido)

We're bringing you a fiesta of flavors where you can try regional cuisine with a fascinating variety.

-Day of the Dead Face Painting Stand 6:00 - 10:30 pm (Calzada de las Ánimas)

"When in Mexico, do as the Mexicans do." Stop by our stand so we can paint your face to match the atmosphere of our celebration.

-Mexican Cemetery 6:00 - 11:00 pm (Donkey pen)

You'll have the chance to see the wonderful colors of a traditional Mexican cemetery and the positive energy shown to loved ones.

-Musical Trio 6:30 - 8:30 pm (Cemetery)

Music is the best way to accompany this time of year, so we're setting up the atmosphere with the sweet sounds of our musical trio.

-Night Legends Tour / La Llorona - Xtabai 6:30 - 9:00 pm (Mangrove trail)

This activity will give you goosebumps! Join us on a tour where we tell you the region's most important stories.

-Xcalacoco Marigolds 6:30 - 10:00 pm (in front of the Cemetery)

Stop by our flower area, where you'll find the breathtaking cempasúchil flower (marigold) with its intense yellow color.

-Trick-or-Treating 7:00 pm (Kid´s Club)

The children of the Kid´s Club will have a blast walking through the hotel, greeting guests and asking them for something for their "calaverita" bowl.

-Fun Village 7:00 - 9:00 pm (Tennis courts)

In this area, kids can have fun with games, blow-up toys, sweets and plenty of joy.

-Live Jarocho Music 7:00 - 9:00 pm (in front of the Hotel Shop)

Listen to live performances of this traditional music at sunset in the heart of our resort.

-Live Mariachi Music 7:30 - 8:30 pm (Cantina La Curva)

You'll sway to the rhythm of mariachi music, complete with traditional costumes and wonderful renditions.

-Day of the Dead Screening 7:30 - 10:00 pm (Cenote Cristalino)

You'll have the chance to see short clips explaining the most important details of this beautiful celebration, including the different traditions found throughout Mexico.

-Live Chile Frito Music 8:30 - 10:30 pm (Cantina La Curva)

Discover new rhythms with this kind of band that's often found in Mexico's most popular celebrations, like holidays, carnivals, weddings and baptisms.

-Live Mariachi Music 8:30 - 9:30 pm (Cemetery)

You'll sway to the rhythm of mariachi music, complete with traditional costumes and wonderful renditions.

-Love Story (theater play by the Kid´s Club) 8:45 pm (Theater)

See a romantic story as told by the resort's littlest guests.

-The Legend of La Llorona Show 9:00 pm (Theater)

Allow yourself to be swept away by this unforgettable legend, revealing the mystery of the night as a spectral figure invites us to hear her story and why she was led to tragedy and never-ending punishment.

Day 2

We'll keep the night going with more music, this time from Yucatan.

-Trick-or-Treating 7:00 pm (Kid´s Club)

The children of the Kid´s Club will have a blast walking through the hotel, greeting guests and asking them for something for their "calaverita" bowl.

-Candlelight Offering 7:00 pm (Cenote Cristalino)

The waters of our cenote light up with the gleam of floating candles, which you can light and set onto the water's edge while asking for your greatest wish or sending your regards to your loved ones who have passed.

-Fun Village 7:00 - 9:00 pm (Tennis courts)

In this area, kids can have fun with games, blow-up toys, sweets and plenty of joy.

-Live Mariachi Music 7:30 - 8:30 pm (Cemetery)

-Calaverita Poems 8:00 pm (in front of the Spa)

These poems are a fun Mexican folkloric tradition, used to mock politicians or to poke fun at friends and family. They're written in verses and have an ironic and joking tone. Typically they imply that the person in the poem has already died. You'll get to hear several examples of this fun tradition.

-Live Banda Norteña Music 8:30 - 10:30 pm (Cemetery)

We'll fill your night with energy with this musical group, playing a popular folkloric genre from Mexico that's sure to have you dancing.

-Live Mariachi Music 8:30 - 9:30 pm (in front of the Hotel Shop)

You'll sway to the rhythm of mariachi music, complete with traditional costumes and wonderful renditions.

-Charro Loco Performance 8:45 pm (Theater)

A comedy show that will add some spice to the celebration. Don't miss a performance by our "charro" (Mexican cowboy) who's ready to get some laughs out of you.

-The Sounds of Mexico Show 9:00 pm (Theater)

A Mexican dance, music and multimedia show where we'll take you through most of Mexican territory.
