Who says good things only come in small packages?
This holiday season, smart revelers will be asking for a visit to the newly envisioned Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach. Opening December 2017 in the heart of Waikiki, this resort, formerly the Pacific Beach Hotel, has undergone a $115 million redevelopment that exudes island chic.
“We are thrilled to soon welcome guests and the community to our brand new resort that celebrates the enduring spirit of Oahu,” said Rob Robinson, general manager, in a release. “The debut of Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach underscores the exciting growth and development in Waikiki Beach, and our elevated resort experience will further its status as a sought-after destination to visit now.”
Doze and Dream
It’s all about the views at the Alohilani Resort. Each of the 839 all-new guest rooms and suites offer stunning views of nearby Diamond Head or the cityscape. The island’s chill vibe is reinforced in the décor with natural materials set in a backdrop of ethereal whites and beiges while touches of green and blue bring the outdoors in.
For a special experience, book a one-bedroom guest suite—equipped with a separate living room and dining area, a wet bar and a wet room with rain shower and soaking tub.
Dine and Drink
Western and Asian ingredients combine under the guidance of Chef Masaharu Morimoto.
The resort’s signature dining experience, Morimoto Asia Waikiki, will offer an unparalleled experience with superb food and an indoor-outdoor dining area. Here, guests can face out to the ocean or view what’s going on in the glass-enclosed exhibition kitchen.
For a more casual meal, head to Momosan Waikiki for noodles, small plates and sake. Lychee will serve up a tasty breakfast buffet with native and seasonal favorites.
A happy hour to end all happy hours can be found at the O Bar. Anchored by a three-story oceanarium of tropical marine life, the bar will serve up craft cocktails and small plates. The poolside Swell Bar, meanwhile, will feature tropical cocktails and an all-day menu.

Relax and Refresh
The Island Club and Spa offers up a premier luxury experience with massages and a full gamut of body and beauty treatments. Fitness buffs will enjoy working out in the state-of-the-art facility overlooking a saltwater oceanarium or taking part in such daily classes as aquatic Vinyasa yoga and Fitness on Demand virtual classes.
Head up to the rooftop for a swimming area that must be seen to be believed. A saltwater infinity pool surrounded by cabanas, tiered day beds and custom teak furniture combine to create an oasis of urban cool. Come evening, lanterns and fire pits come alight to create a chic social space in which to enjoy a cocktail.
Want to improve your backhand? Head over to one of two full-size tennis courts and a training turf. Game. Set. Match.
Learn and Play
While the lure of Waikiki is surely the beach, the resort will also offer culture-based learning activities inspired by Hawaii’s rich natural beauty and heritage.
Families will also find plenty to love, thanks to The Monkey Pod Kid’s Club, where children five to 12 years old can immerse themselves in the aloha spirit while mom and dad enjoy some downtime. A special family pool means never having to say you’re sorry.
