Thinking of where to warm up this winter?
We get it: Others are planning ski trips or finding their own personal winter wonderland, but while that kind of travel is certainly fun, you need to warm up and get away from the creeping effects of seasonal affect disorder.
For that kind of travel, Atlantis, Paradise Island is ideally located.
White-sand beaches give way to turquoise waters, and there's plenty of fun at your fingertips. Plus, with the newly renovated Coral Towers and the updated 600-suite Cove resort, there is even more for guests to enjoy during a visit.
“We’ve taken a step back to look to the future of Atlantis and truly understand what motivates today’s travelers to choose a destination,” said Howard C. Karawan, president and managing director of Atlantis, Paradise Island.
In addition to upgraded accommodations, visitors to the resort have access to an almost unlimited amount of amenities and activities, including an open-air marine habitat; Aquaventure, its 141-acre water park; 11 pools; miles of beachfront; oceanfront golf; the Atlantis Casino and more.
Where to Stay
When it comes to where to stay, guests can choose from a variety of options, including a number of resorts-within-a-resort.
The ultra-luxurious, recently renovated Cove is certainly a highlight. The private sanctuary is tucked away between two of the resort’s beaches. The area has its own lobby that was designed by Jeffrey Beers.
After its recent renovations, it now features an upgraded poolscape and new culinary options from chefs Julie Lightbourn and Jose Andres. Lightbourn has brought Sip Sip to the Cove, and Andres debuted Fish.
“My husband and I dreamed of having a place that was true to Harbour Island’s legacy of friendly hospitality, a place where locals and tourists would come for a home-grown, Bahamian-inspired meal and the perfect rum punch,” Lightbourn told Caribbean Journal. “We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering with The Cove to bring the spirit and tastes of Sip Sip Harbour Island to Paradise Island.
Adjacent to the Cove is the Reef, another resort-within-a-resort that offers a more residential feel. Accommodations include luxury studios, suites and penthouses.
There are also villas available for those who want even more space. At the Harborside Resort in the marina, one-, two- and three-bedroom villas are ideal for families or groups. They can sleep up to nine people.

Visitors can also opt to stay in one of Atlantis’ iconic towers, choosing from the Royal Towers, the Coral Towers or the Beach Towers. A renovation to the Coral Towers was completed in July. It has a brand-new Lobby Lounge, Soda Fountain and updated guestrooms.
What to Do
Whether traveling in a group, with family or as a couple, finding something to do at Atlantis is not going to pose a problem.
Couples will find pools and beaches aplenty as well as a Mandara Spa that offers ancient Balinese healing therapies, European treatments and indigenous Bahamian ingredients.
Families and adventure enthusiasts will love spending time in the resort’s famous water park, which is known for its water slide and mile-long lazy river.
Entrance to the water park is included with a stay at Atlantis, Paradise Island. Also included is access to the marine habitat that includes lagoons, caves, coral formations and underwater ruins. The habitat is home to a diverse range of marine wildlife including, more than 50,000 aquatic animals and 250 marine species.
There are also more traditional resort activities including seaside golf. The Ocean Club Golf Course was designed by Tom Weiskopf and features an 18-hole course over 7,100 yards. There’s also a golf shop and clubhouse restaurant.
There’s also the Aura Nightclub, Atlantis Theatre, Jokers Wild Comedy Club and the world-class Atlantic Casino.
