Something is awfully fishy here.
A five-star hotel in India alleges that a man checked in for one night and actually stayed for 603 days for a total of more than $70,000. And he didn’t pay.
The hotel alleges he had help from staff, who changed his folio several times.
The man apparently checked into Delhi's Roseate House on May 30, 2019, for just one night. He allegedly stayed almost two years and didn’t pay a dime.
"The accounts were falsified to conceal the actual outstanding dues, from the senior management, to avoid detection of their willful illegal acts," the hotel said in the complaint.
Still, it doesn’t add up.
Nobody said anything about the man staying so long, for almost two years?
The man paid the Indian price of what amounts to roughly $117 a night in US dollars at a luxury five-star resort?
Nobody came forward about a scam perpetrated by likely several people? For almost two years? Law & Order solves crimes quicker than that. Even on hiatus.
Financially, nobody noticed a discrepancy in the books for almost two years?
But the hotel wrote in the police complaint that staff "forged, deleted, added and falsified a large number of entries." The hotel alleges that the staff divided up cash payments and forged checks. The staff also allegedly used the hotel's electronic equipment to change documents.
A police investigation is currently underway.
It is still unknown whether the man can or will stand trial.
