Playa Hotels & Resorts recently held its first Culinary Summit.
The exclusive event for Playa associates was held in the Dominican Republic over three days.
Nearly 100 Playa associates participated in expert-led workshops and masterclasses, exploring the latest trends and techniques in gastronomy as the brand works to elevate all-inclusive dining experiences across its resorts in not only the Dominican Republic but Mexico and Jamaica as well.
"Playa Culinary Summit is the starting point for our associates to open their minds and expand their perspective, showing them they can continue improving through various techniques and knowledge to deliver unique guest experiences.” David Barreiro, GM of Hilton La Romana, said in a statement.
Notable culinary trends explored included sustainability in culinary practices such as eco-friendly bar techniques and waste-reducing cooking methods as well as innovation with ingredients like mushrooms, truffles and chocolate in addition to modern tools like Josper ovens.
The summit also delved into culinary tradition blending with modern techniques. This included masterclasses on Iberian ham and wine pairings from Ribera del Duero vs. Rioja.
The successful summit comes in the wake of Playa celebrating its top travel advisors in Cancun this past summer.
