With space at a premium, is this the age of the micro-hotel?
Pod hotels are springing up around the globe after first having gained notoriety in Japan.
Mexico City Airport now has a pod hotel—and New York City just welcomed its third.
The newest Pod property—Pod Brooklyn—is located in trendy Williamsburg and brings a new concept in micro hotels to the city.
Pod Brooklyn is the first modular hotel in the city. It was entirely constructed in Poland and then shipped to the United States.
There are 294 modular rooms on the corner of Metropolitan and Driggs. Each is approximately 100 feet and includes queen bed and bunk bed configurations that have storage and high-tech amenities as well as oversize windows that overlook green gardens and public spaces.

“We are excited to introduce this new category of hotels to the Williamsburg neighborhood," says Richard Born of BD hotels.
"We expect Pod Brooklyn to attract both locals and visitors alike who are seeking affordable accommodations and an interactive experience,” added Born. “We look forward to the continued brand expansion and introducing the modular concept into other emerging markets.”
Guestrooms are available for booking starting at $99 per night.
The property will also begin rolling out a food and beverage program throughout the property’s more than 10,000 square feet of public space.
