'Tis the season to begin your journey toward bonus points.
Marriott International has announced a pair of loyalty points promotions for Marriott Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) members that will allow them to begin earning bonus points as early as their second stay in the New Year.
The registration period for the promotions is open now through March 31, 2018 and the earning period runs from January 16 to April 15, 2018.
Marriott Rewards members participating in the MegaBonus promotion will earn 2,000 bonus points beginning with their second stay (one or more consecutive nights at the same hotel) as well as an additional 1,000 bonus points for stays that include a weekend night (Friday or Saturday).
While Marriott ExecuStay, Marriott Executive Apartments and Marriott Vacation Club are excluded from the promotion, guests can earn extra rewards at nearly all other Marriott Rewards brands.
Members can earn up to 50,000 bonus points during the three-month earning period.
Meanwhile, SPG members taking part in the Great Weeks, Grand Weekends promotion will earn double Starpoints for each stay beginning with their second check-in after January 16. Plus, members will earn an extra 500 bonus Starpoints when they stay over a weekend night.
Five-hundred Starpoints equals 1,500 Marriott Rewards points and there is no cap on how many bonus Starpoints participating SPG members can earn during the promotional period.
Guests can link their accounts to access benefits like status match, points transfer and redemption.
Marriott Rewards and SPG members can redeem their bonus points for free hotel nights, flights and once-in-a-lifetime experiences through Marriott Rewards Moments and SPG Moments.
Members of both programs who registered for the previous MegaBonus and Explore More promotions prior to the end of November can still earn bonus points on eligible stays through January 15, 2018.
According to J.D. Power's 2017 Hotel Loyalty Program Satisfaction Study, Marriott Rewards ranks highest among the leading hotel loyalty programs in overall customer satisfaction, receiving the coveted Gold award with a score of 806. SPG ranked fifth with a score of 787.
