Through a franchise agreement, Sonesta International Hotels Corporation is expanding its reach in the Dominican Republic with a new-build MOD Collection by Sonesta property in La Romana.
The MOD Collection hotel will join James Larimar City and Sonesta ES Suites Jarabacoa, which are under construction in the Dominican Republic.
The 168-room hotel will open to guests in two phases: The first building is scheduled to open in fall 2027, followed by the second building in fall 2028.
“We are excited to see Sonesta’s expansion throughout the LATAM region, specifically the Dominican Republic, as we now have several new properties in development,” said Sonesta Co-CEO Keith Pierce.
“MOD Collection by Sonesta debuted in 2023 with the intention of appealing to a range of full-service hotel owners, minimizing conversion timelines, simplifying brand standards, emphasizing the inclusion of local influences in the property design and embracing the local reputation in the naming,” he added.
“We are thrilled to see the brand continue to grow, and will be proud to have it join the nine MOD hotels currently open and operating across the Americas.”
Guests at the MOD Collection property can earn and redeem points through the Sonesta Travel Pass loyalty program.
