When looking to maximize rewards for spending during your travels, choosing the right credit card matters.
The team of experts at WalletHub recently compared more than 1,500 credit card offers based on their initial rewards bonuses, ongoing earning rates, cardholder perks and fees to determine the best hotel credit cards for different types of travelers this winter.
Here are the three cards that separate themselves from the rest.
Choice Privileges Select Mastercard
WalletHub named the Choice Privileges Select Mastercard its best hotel credit card overall for February 2024. The experts love it because users can quickly earn valuable points that turn into free hotel nights.
The 60,000 bonus points earned when you spend at least $3,000 in the first three months comes out to approximately $744 in Choice reservations. Cardholders also receive 30,000 bonus points after each account anniversary.
The card isn't without flaws, however, as it charges a $95 annual fee and has a high annual percentage rate (APR).
Chase Sapphire Preferred Card
The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card is the best credit card for travelers who don't want to commit to one hotel chain. Users can score an initial bonus of 60,000 bonus points when they spend $4,000 in the first three months for a value of about $750 in travel booked through Chase Ultimate Rewards.

Users also earn five points for every dollar spent on travel through Chase and one point for every dollar spent on all other purchases.
Like the Choice Privileges Select Mastercard though, this card charges a $95 annual fee and has a high APR.
Citi Custom Cash Card
The Citi Custom Cash Card is the best no-annual-fee credit card for any hotel chain at the moment as it offers $200 for spending $1,500 in the first six months. Users can also earn 5 percent cash back in their top eligible spending category and 1 percent cash back on all other purchases.
Plus, hotel purchases are eligible for the 5 percent reward rate and new cardholders can take advantage of a zero percent introductory APR.
The card's cons include a foreign transaction fee of 3 percent a potentially high regular APR depending on your credit.
Other top-rated hotel credit cards include the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass Card, the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card, the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card, the Wyndham Credit Card, the Best Western Premier Credit Card and The World of Hyatt Credit Card, among others.
