WHY IT RATES: San Francisco's famed Hotel Triton is ringing in the new year with a newly completed $6 million property transformation and updated amenities.-Mia Taylor, TravelPulse Senior Writer

San Francisco's historic Hotel Triton has unveiled a fully renovated property just in time for the new year.

Following a year of work by star designer Liubasha Rose and Rose Ink Workshop, the revitalized property features a contemporary redesign with a focus on the well-cultured traveler and Danish concept of "Hygge" which incorporates a feeling of coziness, comfort, contentment, and wellbeing.

The Rose Ink Workshop team worked to create eclectic seating groups, peppered with found objects and an extensive art collection, creating bright spaces filled with cultural artifacts.

Key statement pieces found in the lobby include a collection of Nigerian Yoruba Crowns and a display case filled with minerals from around the world, including sulfur and pink opal.

For the corridors and central hotel staircase, the team worked to incorporate large scale photographs taken on Liubasha Rose's worldly travels.

Also new for 2019, The Hotel Triton team have unveiled updated amenities. These include a "window to the past" and one of the most notable features of the new property, which is a mural that was discovered behind the walls during demolition.

Created by famed impressionist artist Jon Oshanna in the 1940s, the artwork beautifully depicts Mission Dolores, San Francisco's oldest intact Mission in California and the oldest building in San Francisco.

In addition to the newly reworked interiors, The Hotel Triton features room service from Michelin Star awarded Chef Lauren Manrique and Chef Patrick Albert and their French bistro Café de la Presse.

Guests staying at the property are able to order from Café de la Presse's menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Favorites include everything from Café de la Presse's Crépe a l'Americaine (buttermilk pancakes) and Pain Perdue (vanilla french toast), to Croque Monsieur, Salade Nicoise and Steak Frites.

The property's 140 rooms and suites have also been renovated to create the feel of a guest room in a private home, featuring luxurious bathrooms complete with Carrera marble finishes and Waterworks plumbing features.

With a combination of award-winning design and fare, the Hotel Triton is quickly becoming the jewel of the Grant Avenue Corridor. Considered "The Rodeo Drive" of San Francisco's Financial District, The Grant Avenue Corridor is currently experiencing an update with the Hotel Triton the first among other avenue improvements.

Following 106 years since opening in 1913, the re-invigorated property continues to shine as one of San Francisco's key cultural landmark properties.
