A trio of downtown Las Vegas attractions are set to close in favor of a new hotel-casino, the Associated Press reported.
Topless Girls of Glitter Gulch gentlemen's club, the Mermaid's Casino and La Bayou Casino, which are all located on Fremont Street, are scheduled to close this week as recent purchasers eye a brand new hotel and casino property.
Brothers Derek and Greg Stevens acquired the three aforementioned sites from the Granite Gaming Group two months ago.
While the project is still in the planning stages, the AP points out that it's likely to be the first ground-up development in downtown Las Vegas in years.
Derek Stevens told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the hotel-casino would be "a combination of demolition, renovation and new construction."

As many as 170 employees will be impacted by the closures. However the Stevens brothers said in April that they will give those employees priority hiring at the new site.
Fans of deep-fried Twinkies and Oreos are sure to miss Mermaid's, which became the first two-level Fremont Street gambling hall when it opened back in 1956.
La Bayou was also a part of history, though, receiving the first gaming license in the state of Nevada in 1931.
Meanwhile, Topless Girls of Glitter Gulch has the distinction of being the last remaining topless show on the Fremont Street casino pedestrian mall.
