The Trump Organization is planning a Bali hotel but it could end up "angering the gods" according to a report in the Jakarta Post.
"On the Indonesian resort island of Bali, building height is measured by coconut trees. Anything taller could anger the Gods the Hindu locals believe inhabit the island. So plans to renovate a decades-old hotel overlooking a 16th-century temple and turn it into a bigger six-star resort, complete with a tower and upgraded golf course, are causing some anxiety," says a report in the Jakarta Post.
Not surprisingly, the issue could be a conflict for the new U.S. president, despite backing away from ties to his the Trump Organization.
"I would strongly recommend against any new developments that impact the temple," I Gusti Ngurah Sudiana, the local chief of Parisada Hindu Dharma Indonesia, the country's peak Hindu organization, tells the Jakarta Post. "These things are sensitive in Bali. The Balinese don't tend to speak up, but these things related to the sacredness of the temple are very sensitive, only the enforcement is too weak.''

Further illustrating the conflicts are the Trump Organization and the Trump family's relationship to the MNC Group founder Hary Tanoesoedibjo and who is an investor and was on the guest list for the president's inauguration.
However, the height of the tower, which promises views of the Tanah Lot Temple and the Indian Ocean, according to the Jakarta Post, has not been decided.
