The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced fee changes for three of its most popular trusted traveler programs.

Effective October 1, 2024, the application fee for the new-and-improved Global Entry, NEXUS and SENTRI will be $120. The change marks the first update in more than 15 years.

NEXUS applicants will be most impacted as the original fee was just $50. Meanwhile, Global Entry applicants can expect to pay an extra $20 as the current rate is $100. Finally, the application cost for SENTRI is dropping only slightly from $122.25.

"Once the rule goes into effect, applicants under the age of 18 will be exempt from the application fee when a parent or legal guardian is already a member of, or concurrently applying for NEXUS, SENTRI, or Global Entry," CBP confirmed on Tuesday.

What Is Global Entry?

Global Entry allows pre-approved, low-risk travelers easier and faster entry into the U.S. by eliminating processing lines and paperwork. However, travelers must be pre-approved for the program and are required to undergo a background check and in-person interview before enrollment.

What Is NEXUS?

The NEXUS program allows pre-screened travelers expedited processing when entering the U.S. and Canada by way of air and sea travel via dedicated processing lanes at designated northern border ports of entry, NEXUS kiosks (when entering Canada by air) and Global Entry kiosks (when entering the U.S. via Canadian Preclearance airports).

What Is SENTRI?

The Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection (SENTRI) allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the U.S. via Southern land border ports. To qualify, members must be pre-approved for the program and undergo a background check and in-person interview before enrollment.
