Flight Blows Out Tires, Forces Cancellations at Tokyo's Haneda Airport

Officials were forced to close a runway at Tokyo's Haneda Airport Monday after a Hawaiian Airlines flight blew out its tires upon making an emergency landing in the Japanese capital, the Associated Press reported.

The runway closure also led to multiple domestic flight cancellations and disruptions.

The Airbus A330 was carrying 293 passengers and crew members when it encountered a problem with a hydraulic system that forced it to circle back to Haneda Airport.

No one was injured in the landing. However eight of the plane's tires blew out, leaving it stranded on the runway.

An aviation expert speaking to Japanese public broadcaster NHK noted that the potential issue with the plane's hydraulic system could have resulted in the blowout since it would most likely affect its brakes.
