On Saturday, a concourse train at Denver International Airport malfunctioned, sending four people including a child to the hospital.

According to The Associated Press, the concourse train accelerated without prompting and then slowed down quickly as the vehicle approached the main terminal, jolting the passengers-many of whom were standing at the time-and forcing four people to the hospital.

A Denver International Airport spokesman said the concourse train had about 45 passengers onboard at the time of the incident, which took place at around 2 a.m. local time Saturday morning. Of the people on the train, 27 passengers were checked out by medics and the others refused treatment.

Airport spokesman Heath Montgomery released a statement to The AP, saying, "My understanding is that most of the passengers were standing on the train when it jolted, and they were not expecting it. It could have been worse if it was in the middle of the day. They are confident in the safety of the system, otherwise we wouldn't operate it."

The four concourse train cars involved in the incident was replaced, and the shuttle was put back into service later Saturday. The software problem that caused the incident has been fixed.
