CLEAR, the secure identity company easing the airport security screening process in airports across the U.S., announced a new partnership with Hawaiian Airlines ahead of its launch at Maui’s Kahului Airport (OGG) on May 1.
CLEAR will launch one lane at the airport’s security screening process, adding 33 jobs to the airport and generating around $2.1 million annually in local economic impact. The company currently serves across 57 airports and holds over 20 million members.
HawaiianMiles members, the loyalty rewards program for Hawaiian Airlines, can now enjoy a discounted CLEAR Plus membership starting May 1. CLEAR currently operates its identity verification lanes at 13 of the airlines’ 15 North American destinations.
"CLEAR is thrilled to be in Maui and bring frictionless, predictable travel to Maui residents. In addition to bringing jobs and investment to the Island, we are proud to continue our support of rebuilding efforts through the Hawai'i Community Foundation," said CLEAR CEO Caryn Seidman Becker.
Travelers who are Pualani Platinum, Pualani Gold and Premier Club members will enjoy a membership rate of $149, while HawaiianMiles members can enjoy discounted membership at $179.
Additionally, Pualani Platinum members who have flown over 75,000 flight miles with Hawaiian Airlines will receive a free annual CLEAR Plus membership.
Those who choose to become CLEAR Plus members can add up to three family members or friends to their account for $99 each. Children under 18 are free.
Maui’s Kahului Airport isn’t the only one implementing CLEAR. In a few weeks, Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) will also debut the service.
"The addition of CLEAR to our airport system, starting with Kahului Airport, will provide frequent travelers with an option to help make the security screening experience faster and more efficient," said Ed Sniffen, director of the Hawaii Department of Transportation.
The company verifies identities using biometric scanning, streamlining the security checkpoint process by replacing the need for scanning driver’s licenses. Following verification of identity, a CLEAR Ambassador escorts members directly to the TSA security lines.
