Locals and travelers traversing the massive beauty of India will have some help in the form of free public Wi-Fi coming from the budding innovation called Google Station.
TechCrunch reports Google announced various updates recently, among those is technology that will help so many access the Internet. The link above has more information on an exciting development for those who traverse India's extensive set of rail lines.
In many cases, you can now log on to free Wi-Fi thanks to this particular campaign, which Google hopes to employ throughout more of India and, more promising, "around the world."
Google Station is a way for station purveyors to glean Google's offering and provide it to the masses of travelers that meander about their particular location.
Similar technology has been in the works since last September and now already boasts more than 50 stations with an end goal of about 400 railways stops, according to Google India.
The project is a collaboration between Google and Indian Railways and RailTel, and the project has already been a success. QZ.com reports this past June that the service has been well received.
Itika Sharma Punit, writing the report, states, "The free internet is much faster than the 3G internet that is most widely used in India. On average, users of the free railway-station internet-despite being in transit, and being limited to one hour of use per person per day-utilize 15 times more data than they would consume on 3G in a day, Google said."

In the case of Google Station, it's Google's way of sparking interest in locations far beyond India to have like success with people that frequent the area.
Google Station is a tool that will help flip the flow of Internet access into a fire hydrant of refreshing data.
Its blog post explains: "So today we're announcing Google Station, which gives partners an easy set of tools to roll-out Wi-Fi hotspots in public places. Google Station will provide software and guidance on hardware to turn fiber connections into fast, reliable and safe Wi-Fi zones. Users will get a fast Wi-Fi experience with a simple and unified login, while making it much easier for venues to manage their networks."
In time, more of India and, perhaps, more of the world will enjoy fast Internet without having to worry about data fees or painfully slow access.
Maps become more abundant, information on the surrounding area is now at your fingertips and crucial details that help any trip become more readily available. It's a promising innovation for an optimistic endeavor.
