Avanti Destinations has partnered with VisitBritain to promote regional cuisine in a new campaign, "Local Flavors in Great Britain."
Five new customizable food-and-drink-themed itineraries are now available for independent travelers.
"Food- and drink-related experiences are the most popular special interest activity booked with us by travel agents for their independent travel clients," said Harry Dalgaard, president and CEO of Avanti Destinations. "This partnership with VisitBritain is a perfect fit both for our expertise in food-related travel and our ability to create seamless multi-destination independent vacations."
VisitBritain is excited to share its culinary traditions with Avanti's independent travelers.
"Our partnership with Avanti is a fantastic opportunity to build on the growing interest in culinary travel while also showcasing the local flavors and great tastes of regional Britain," said Gavin Landry, VisitBritain executive vice president of the Americas. "We are excited to help educate more travel agents and travelers about undiscovered British food and drink products, and the tourism experiences connected to these local cuisines.
The itineraries are focused on London, Yorkshire, Edinburgh and Cornwall/Devon, which VisitBritain has identified as regional food hubs that each offer heritage and modern, undiscovered food and drink experiences.
Travel agents can easily build and combine itineraries using new four-day "modules," each focused on one of the four food hubs. Travel can also be combined with other Avanti offerings in the U.K.
"While many Americans may have preconceived ideas of what British food is all about, the experiences in these vacations have been selected to showcase the new and unexpected, as well as the traditional," added Dalgaard. "Bet you've never heard of Yorkshire tapas. How about a cheese and tea pairing lesson or catch-and-cook your own fish and seafood?"
Travel agents can capitalize on bookings to the U.K. with Avanti, which is offering a bonus commission of $50 for each booking of $2,000 or more anywhere in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland made in before March 31, 2018, with travel taking place before December 15, 2018.
