Cancel Christmas? Parents say yes.
In a new study by Trafalgar, parents said they would cancel Christmas to travel instead.
The guided travel company surveyed more than 2,500 parents across the country, finding out how stressful, costly and time-consuming the holidays can be, and they found that an overwhelming majority of American parents admit they would rather cancel Christmas this year and travel instead.
-More than half of parents (66 percent) say they would cancel Christmas this year to travel instead, with a majority (78 percent) noting they would rather spend their money on a vacation instead of holiday gifts.
-Parents say that their stress doubles during the holidays and they can nearly eliminate that stress by traveling instead.
-Spending at home during the holidays can actually be more expensive than a week-long family vacation in Europe. For example, 56 percent of parents are planning to spend more than $5,000 on the holidays this year.
-Parents also indicated that they spend one to two months preparing for the holidays, and one in three parents have had to take time off from work to prep for the holidays.
