As the African tourism industry continues to try to recover fully from last year's Ebola scare, South African Airways Vacations has launched a city-and-safari package with prices that are historically low.
Breaking the $2,000 price barrier for an air-inclusive package to South Africa is a goal that was left behind by most operators long ago as no longer attainable. But South African Airways Vacations, the travel packaging entity of South Africa's national carrier, is now offering a package with four nights in Cape Town and two nights on safari for a starting price of $1,899 per person, including transatlantic air.
The offer is good for travel now through Dec. 9 and then again for Jan. 15-25 and Feb. 12-March 31, 2016. The Cape Town and Safari SuperSaver must be booked by Nov. 30.
The package also includes breakfasts while staying in Cape Town at the SunSquare Cape Town Hotel in the Cape Town suburb of Gardens near the Cape Town City Bowl, and all meals while on safari at the Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge. The four-star lodge sits on the slopes of a dormant volcano.
Terry von Guilleaume, president of South African Airways Vacations, said, "Exploring Cape Town and going on a Big Five safari at this price has not been previously offered. There has never been a more affordable time to experience the beauty of South Africa."
