The perpetually sunny destination offers a treasure trove of experiences for savvy travelers, and people are only just beginning to discover its riches. In 2024, Globus and Avalon are helping travelers dive into the destination in even more ways with new tours, a new Suite Ship and a river cruise.
Travelers can take advantage of Globus' 7-day Taste of Portugal itinerary. The new journey takes guests from Porto to Lisbon, where they can stroll cobblestone streets, take in baroque architecture and sip world-famous wine.
In Coimbra, a medieval capital, guests see soulful fado, Moorish alleyways and a captivating blend of history and youthful energy.
The tour concludes in Lisbon, which offers a blend of old-world charm and modern dynamism, from historic tram rides to modern art scenes.
Travelers can extend their Portugal stay with two new options in Madeira and the Azores.
Globus' Choice Touring is also available in the country. The company offers the new 8-day Globus Choice tour in 2024 called Art & Soul: Portugal By Design. Guests can explore the canals and coastal cities of northwestern Portugal as well as medieval marvels, wine and music with included YourChoice Excursions in Lisbon and Coimbra.
In addition to tours in Portugal, guests can enjoy river cruising on the Douro River onboard the brand-new Suite Ship, the Avalon Alegria.

The cruise, an 8-day sailing roundtrip from Porto, features hillside vineyards and historic villages as well as postcard-perfect views on this all-new voyage filled with Avalon’s signature, include“Classic,” “Discovery” and “Active” excursion choices.
The Vida Portugal: Vineyards & Villages Along the Douro, features Amarante–the picturesque Minho region, known for its golden church that dates back to 1530, and the sandstone architecture in Salamanca, Spain. Guests will be able to glimpse everything from medieval castles to cinematic scenery while enjoying the region's baked bread, olives, cheese and wine.
