Oahu is home to hiking trails that wind through forests, valleys and mountains, offering breathtaking views at the summits. There are trails for beginners and avid travelers alike.

Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach has compiled a brief guide highlighting some of the favorite trails available for hikers to explore. Whether you're looking for a workout, a contrast to the bustling city or just a place to clear your head, you'll find it on the trails of Oahu.

Kaena Trail

Kaena Point State Park has multiple six- or seven-mile long hiking trails. You will have is plenty to see, as the tracks run parallel to the ocean. There are protected albatross nesting areas, and it's an area where you might see monk seals or green sea turtles as well.

Nakoa Trail

You'll wind through the Kahana Valley on this 2.5-mile trail. It's located on the east side of the island and is lined with ferns, pandanus, bamboo and more-making it one of the lushest you'll find on the island. This trail also offers swimming holes throughout the hike where you can jump in to cool off.

Manana Trail to Waimano Falls

This hike starts from Pacific Palisades, a residential area in central Oahu. It's a quicker way to see waterfalls, as it's only three miles round trip on moderate terrain. Waimano Falls needs a lot of rain to really get going, which means you will be hiking in mud if you're headed to see it in its full beauty.

Short, long, steep, flat, rugged-there is a trail for any type of hiker on the beautiful island of Oahu.
