Dear Tammy: Where do you stand on selling Europe lately? I mean, it's hard to avoid the fact that Europe has had a lot of problems, including the terrorist attacks in Nice, Brussels, Paris, London and Manchester.
My clients just don't seem to be biting on wanting to visit. Should we stop selling?
Tammy: Absolutely not! As a matter of fact, you need to be pushing Europe even harder because there actually is an increased interest in visiting.
Take your sales from a different approach: Sell the beauty, culture, food and heritage of Europe. Let your customers know what they are missing if they don't visit.
For example, your clients should know about one the most romantic destinations in Europe-Paris, France, (otherwise known as the City of Love for a reason).
Your clients can toast their love with a tour of champagne company Moët & Chandon, one of the most popular champagnes in the world, or indulge in a vacation of chocolate when they visit during October's three-day chocolate festival, Salon du Chocolat. The nightlife and the arts in Paris are a must to be experienced, including Moulin Rouge, a troupe of 80 artists.
Speaking of chocolate, if your clients are foodies, you can put a package together for the culinary traveler, including tasting wine in Vienna, bratwurst in Germany or pasta in Italy.
Of course, there's Italy, one of the top trips on most travelers' bucket lists and this is the perfect time to go. They can see the Coliseum, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Trevi Fountain and the Tuscan countrysides. They can drink delicious wines and visit Castello Orsini-Odescalchi in Bracciano or a cliff-side trip to The Amalfi Coast in southern Italy.
Of course, there's one of the most popular travel destinations right now and that's Iceland with its Snæfellsjökull National Park, home to an active volcano. Don't forget Reykjavik, the capital and largest city in Iceland. There's the Blue Lagoon and, of course, the Northern Lights, a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
There are many other off-the-beaten-path destinations to consider as well.
So, no don't stop selling Europe, especially now. They need travelers and have such wonderful experiences and destinations to enjoy.
