More than 1,500 private jets were expected to land in Augusta, Georgia throughout last weekend for the Masters golf tournament.
The influx of these private jets was a big talking point leading up to one of if not the biggest major event in golf.
Growing up in Georgia and watching the Masters every year, I don’t recall a time when private jets were discussed this much if ever during the tournament. Last year it was mentioned after a few pictures went viral on social media, but this year yielded many more stories about the little Augusta, Georgia airport accommodating so many more private jets throughout the week of practice round play and then actual tournament play.
The use of private jet travel has soared over 20% since pre-pandemic times. While it’s not an attainable method of travel for many, those who have the means to fly this way aren’t letting money hold them back.
And it’s no surprise that the cities with big sporting events find themselves preparing for a wave of private jets. Expect to see Miami flooded with them, and yachts too, for the next big F1 race.
The rich and famous continue to make private jet travel a priority, now becoming a way of life for several affluent travelers who five years ago had never set foot on one before.
Even Four Seasons Private Jet experiences just launched bookable charters for a limited time. The sector isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
