President Barack Obama made a controversial decision when he renamed Mount McKinley as Mount Denali, and now a cell phone company from San Francisco is looking to get another major landmark's name changed.
The political arm of Credo Mobile-CREDO Action-wants to remove Ronald Reagan's name from the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington, Virginia.
To help build notoriety for the cause, CREDO has started a petition that will allow supporters to make their voices heard and possibly convince the United States government to make the name change to the national airport.
Despite the outrage by many Republican officials about the change from Mount McKinley to Mount Denali, CREDO was quick to point out that Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport was renamed in 1998 thanks in part to the efforts of the Republican Party.
As of publishing, the petition efforts had already reached 93 percent of the targeted 75,000 signatures. When and if the company reaches its goal, CREDO claims it will deliver the petition to House Speaker and Republican Representative John Boehner.
While President Reagan accomplished many great things for the United States during his run as the leader of the nation, his name atop the Virginia airport is quite ironic. In 1981, Reagan was one of the men who helped break the air traffic controllers' union, which lead to 11,000 workers being fired.
