Travelers in the Midwest are getting new nonstop access to one of the most popular beaches in the United States, just in time for summer vacation season.
Leisure carrier Contour Airlines has announced plans to launch a new flight between Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport (PKB) and South Carolina’s Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR).
The new seasonal route will begin service on July 1 and operate twice weekly flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays through August 15.
The carrier will use its 30-seat regional jet to serve the new route. Flights will depart the Mid-Ohio Valley at 11:50 a.m. and arrive in Myrtle Beach at 1:35 p.m. On the northbound leg, flights will take off from Myrtle Beach at 2:15 p.m. and land at Mid-Ohio Valley at 4 p.m.
Contour Airlines focuses on connecting smaller and often-overlooked regional markets with popular leisure destinations.
The new Myrtle Beach route will give travelers in the Mid-Ohio Valley in West Virginia and Ohio a convenient and affordable vacation option.
“Myrtle Beach has long been one of the most requested leisure destinations for travelers in this region, and we are thrilled to bring this nonstop service to the community," said Contour’s President Ben Munson.
"This route provides families, vacationers, and travelers throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley with an easy and stress-free way to reach the South Carolina coast. We are proud to continue investing in communities like Parkersburg and expanding access to reliable, convenient air service."
