The Best, Worst Countries to Take an Uber Ride

Driving-Tests.org recently polled close to 800 American tourists to find out how ride-sharing experiences differ from nation to nation, based on the rates of canceled rides, driving quality, driver attitude, chattiness and overall experience. These are the best and worst destinations to request an Uber.

As if Canada's reputation wasn't friendly enough, American riders are incredibly high on the country's Uber drivers. Only drivers in Ireland were said to have better attitudes and no country boasts better driving quality than the Great White North. Canadian drivers are also the world's chattiest and among the least likely to cancel a trip.

South Korea trails only Canada in terms of the world's best ride-sharing experience in the eye of American travelers despite the fact that Uber, Lyft and other ride-sharing services are still relatively unpopular in the Asian destination.

Drivers' attitudes were rated highest or the best in Ireland. What's more, the European country boasts a safety and quality advantage over other countries since all of its Uber drivers are licensed by the National Transport Authority.

The United Kingdom is the fourth-best destination to hail an Uber ride, according to Driver-Tests.org's data. Riders say drivers in the U.K. are among the world's chattiest and the least likely to cancel a ride.

Ride-sharing is mighty popular in America so it's not all that surprising that the U.S. ranks among the top five countries for Uber and similar services. While American drivers' attitude ranks toward the bottom worldwide, riders appear pleased with the overall driving quality. Still, the U.S. trails only Morocco in terms of the most canceled rides.

Here's where we get to the worst. Although Spain ranks as one of the best countries for cancellations, its drivers are among the least likely to strike up a conversation while drivers' attitudes and quality also rank toward the bottom worldwide.

Poland's Uber drivers aren't popular for their attitudes or driving quality, according to American riders. However, drivers in this European nation are relatively talkative, beating out nearly a dozen other countries in that category.

China's ride-sharing service drivers rank worse than most in terms of attitude and quality and dead last in terms of talking to their riders. Nonetheless, riders are more likely to experience a canceled ride in other countries compared to China.

India's Uber drivers were rated as having the worst attitudes. Passengers also rated the country lowest in terms of driving quality. If that weren't rough enough, India ranked in the top five in most canceled Uber rides. That said, you might be better off taking a taxi here.

Morocco is the country where riders are most likely to have their ride canceled, according to Driving-Tests.org's research. What's more, it ties India in terms of lowest rated quality of driving. Nonetheless, it's one of the hottest countries among American travelers right now.
