Cruise & Cruise Line

15 Reasons Why Adults Will Love Sailing on Disney Cruise Line

Sailing on a Disney Cruise - With or Without Kids

1/16
Adults are the true winners of sailing on a Disney Cruise Line ship. With sectioned off areas, specialty programs, their own dining room and the exceptional customer service provided onboard each ship, adults-whether they're traveling with children or not-might love this cruise line even more than their youthful counterparts.

Designated Kid Spaces

2/16
Whether you're traveling with or without kids, you're going to love the Designated Kid Spaces-It's a Small World Nursery, Disney's Oceaneers Club & Lab, Edge and Vibe. These are interactive spaces that kids WANT to spend all of their time in. That means, there are actually fewer kids running around the ship. And since most of the areas for kids aged 0-12 are all located on one deck of the ship, it's easy to make your way to other areas of the ship without seeing any kids at all.

Adults-Only Upper Deck Areas

3/16
Not all families keep their children in the kid's club for the duration of the trip-after all, they're probably wanting some quality family time during their vacation. Therefore, adults have their own areas of the ship where kids are just not allowed. Relax at the Quiet Cove area on the upper deck, complete with pool, hot tubs, bar and café.

After Hours

4/16
Adults even have their own special After Hours areas that transform in the evenings. On the Disney Wonder, these spaces included a nightclub, lounge and English-styled pub. There are even adult-only shows onboard including karaoke, cabaret, comedians and more.

Spacious Staterooms

5/16
Cruise lines have really been stepping up their game recently when it comes to the cabins, but Disney Cruise Line staterooms remain my favorite. They have so much storage and a divided bathroom. As someone traveling with their 21-year-old niece, I can attest to just how wonderful it is to have two vanities while getting ready in the morning. Plus the shower is not just a small box where you're constantly knocking into the wall as you shampoo your hair-nope, it's a complete shower/tub combo!

Exceptional Dining Offerings

6/16
The food on Disney Cruise Line ships is diverse and completely satisfying. There are options for all types of eaters and themed for the different restaurants and specialty nights onboard. It's not uncommon to see guests ordering multiple appetizers or entrees because they all just sound so good. Plus the servers really just want to make you happy, so if there's a dish you had at one restaurant-like the famous beignets from Tiana's Place-you can always make a special request.

I sailed during my first trimester of pregnancy and I had way more food aversions than cravings during this time, but there was always something delicious and calming to my sensitive stomach.

Palo

7/16
For an additional cost, guests can choose to dine at Palo-an adult-exclusive North Italian restaurant that will have you dreaming about its dishes for weeks after your cruise. Seriously, I still crave the dessert special, the almond soufflé. The restaurant also offers a special wine pairing dinner of five recommended courses each paired with their own Italian wine.

If you aren't willing to trade in one of your dinners from the included dining options-yea, they're really that good-then I would at least encourage you to make a reservation for brunch at Palo. You'll be treated to a full buffet of brunch favorites including fresh pastries and a charcuterie assortment, in addition to a menu filled with an eclectic mix of breakfast and lunch items.

Rotational Dining

8/16
Disney Cruise Line is unique in its dining offerings. Most ships have three main dining rooms and guests will rotate among these-don't worry, it's set up in a way that you won't be missing out on anything. What's more though, is that the servers will also travel with you through the different dining rooms. This means that if you have a specific drink of choice or if you purchased a special wine bottle to enjoy at dinners, this will be sitting there waiting for you as you sit down. Plus as the week goes on, your servers will learn more about your likes and dislikes and be able to give more tailored suggestions.

Dine and Play

9/16
Adults at the second dining seating really win with the Dine and Play program. Families get to have dinner with their kids, but once the youngsters are done eating, a kids counselor will stop by to bring them back to the kids' area. This means parents can enjoy dinner with their kids, but also have a night to themselves to really savor each course and follow it up in one of the adults-only after-hours spots. Those without kids benefit by enjoying their dinner at a predominantly kid-free restaurant-especially towards the end of their meal-at no extra cost.

Specialty Drink Options

10/16
There are daily drink specials served in souvenir cups-both alcoholic and non-alcoholic-at some of the special events like the Mickey's Sail-A-Wave deck party. Plus, there are unique drink seminars located throughout the ship like a beer tasting, chocolate & liquor tasting, tequila & margarita tasting and more.

Senses Spa & Salon and Fitness Area

11/16
Wanting to really relax and rejuvenate while at sea? Sign up for one of the specialty services offered by Senses Spa or just relax with a day pass to their Rainforest Room.

For those looking to stay fit while on vacation, the fitness area is for you. With special classes, this is an easy way not to gain any weight while still enjoying all the delicious food options onboard.

Broadway-Level Entertainment

12/16
Disney has worked hard to bring guests some of the best shows while on the high seas-I mean, they are in the business of entertaining after all. You'll be blown away by the theatrics they are able to accomplish while performing on a moving vessel. It's even rumored that Broadway has poached talent from the Aladdin show for their own production. What's more, each ship has a different feature show. On the Disney Dream, it's 'Beauty and the Beast.' On the Disney Fantasy, it's 'Disney's Aladdin - A Musical Spectacular.' Enjoy 'Tangled: The Musical' onboard the Disney Magic and 'Frozen, A Musical Spectacular' onboard the Disney Wonder.

Daily Activities Catered to Adults

13/16
Just as there are special day time activities geared towards kids, there are events tailored towards adults on the Disney Cruise Line ships. Just use the Navigator App to easily sort through the day's itinerary and be on the lookout for items marked '18 years or older.'

Once-in-a-Lifetime Excursions

14/16
Disney, as expected, goes above and beyond with the excursions they offer. In Alaska, sign up for the Glacier Discovery by Helicopter, where you'll get to fly to a remote glacier, hike around to see the interesting natural landscape and drink from a fresh glacier stream. In the Caribbean, sail to Disney's private island-Castaway Cay-where adults will once again enjoy their own secluded area in Serenity Bay. In Corsica, enjoy a special Ajaccio Wine Tasting. With so many options, it may be hard to try to fit them all in. Adventures by Disney has also teamed up to create their own unique port excursions for even more special experiences.

Disney's One-of-a-Kind Magical Service

15/16
Guest service is a priority for Disney Cruise Line. From their 'Leave-It-to-Disney Dependability' to 'No-Worry Cruising Convenience' when it comes to port excursions to the exceptional helpfulness of all crew members, guests won't have to worry about anything while sailing onboard one of Disney Cruise Lines' ships.

They Help to Bring Out the Kid in All of Us

16/16
Relaxation, rejuvenation, quality entertainment and the magic of Disney may just be what every adult needs to bring them back to a time when imagination ruled and the world was a beautiful thing to be explored. Guests will get that renewed sense of wonder while sailing with Disney Cruise Line because the element of fun is a key underlying feature in everything that they do.
