Open to the Unvaccinated

1/10
International travel has opened up considerably over the past year-plus since the COVID-19 vaccine rollout began, but many destinations have only reopened their borders to individuals who can prove that they've been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus and in some cases boosted as well. Fortunately for the unvaccinated, there are still a handful of exciting destinations that they can visit without extended quarantine periods in 2022.

Dominican Republic

2/10
Travelers can visit the Dominican Republic without proof of vaccination or a negative test. However, All passengers entering and leaving the country will need to complete the free electronic entry and exit form, which combines the Traveler's Health Affidavit, Customs Declaration and International Embarkation/Disembarkation forms.

Mexico

Mexico continues to welcome visitors without proof of vaccination, a negative test result or quarantine requirements. Travelers may encounter enhanced health screening such as temperature checks and questionnaires upon arrival at the airport and their resort.

Unvaccinated travelers can visit Portugal this winter with a negative RT-PCR Test (or similar NAAT test) taken within 72 hours of boarding their flight or a negative Laboratorial Rapid Antigen Test taken within 24 hours of departure. Children under 12 do not need to present a vaccine certificate or test. Additionally, visitors must complete a Passenger Locator Form to generate a QR code that they'll need to show airline personnel.

Unvaccinated travelers ages 12 and older visiting the Bahamas are required to obtain a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken no more than three days prior to the date of arrival. Travelers must also apply for the Bahamas Travel Health Visa at travel.gov.bs and opt-in to the COVID-19 health insurance covering them for the duration of their stay. The cost is included in the visa application and depends on the length of stay. Finally, unvaccinated visitors traveling inter-island within the Bahamas from New Providence (Nassau), Paradise Island, Grand Bahama Island (Freeport), Eleuthera or Inagua must obtain a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken no more than three days prior to their date of travel and present it to the operator of their airline or vessel.

All passengers traveling to Egypt will require a negative PCR test result taken no more than 72 hours before their flight departure time. However, the U.S. Embassy in Egypt points out that passengers traveling from North America will have a 96-hour testing window due to the long travel and transit period from these airports. Travelers must present paper copies of the test results with a QR code. Children under the age of six are exempt.
