Breezes Resorts & Spas launched a rebranding initiative in November 2009 which has successfully increased bookings at its expanded portfolio of hotels, which now includes eight properties in six countries, including Jamaica, Curaçao, the Bahamas, Panama and Brazil. Breezes Rio Bueno (formerly Grand Lido Braco), located on Jamaica's western coast, saw a 9 percent increase in February occupancy rates compared to last year, while March is already up 25 percent in bookings over 2009. Breezes Panama, which opened on Oct. 1 in Santa Clara, got off to a solid start, with a near sell out during its introductory weekend and 100 percent occupancy both during Christmas week and over Valentine's Day weekend.
"To date we are very happy with the ROI of our rebranding efforts," said John Issa, chairman of SuperClubs. "The occupancy numbers at Breezes Rio Bueno alone prove the name change was a smart move. It's been a win-win for us across the board as we have gained market share both with new customers and SuperClubs' repeat guests who now have more Breezes hotels to choose from."
The all-suite Breezes Grand Negril has seen an influx of younger couples given the resort's new pricing structure due to the rebranding. Also expanding its customer base is Breezes Trelawny, which as Starfish had primarily attracted a family crowd. The hotel, which is now Super-Inclusive, has struck a chord with couples seeking an active getaway, well-appointed accommodations and a convenient base for exploring Jamaica.
Slated to open this summer, the brand's latest development, Breezes Buzios will be the second Breezes in Brazil, bumping Breezes' offerings to nine resorts. Located near bustling Rio de Janeiro, Breezes Buzios will offer a spa, mini golf course, cycling paths, roller-skating park, archery center, bowling alley and convention facilities. In addition to 330 rooms and suites, the resort will also feature 110 villas.
All Breezes vacations are Super-Inclusive and feature multiple dining options, including regional fare, Italian and Japanese-style Teppanyaki; unlimited premium brand drinks; and a host of complimentary land and water sports ranging from windsurfing, scuba diving and kayaking to tennis, golf and the flying trapeze. Each property also has an à la carte spa featuring indulgent treatments like the Island Coffee Mint Glo and Tropical Fruit Facial. All Breezes also prohibit tipping.
