Intrepid Travel is once again holding its annual charity event, the Blue Dragon Marathon Walk, giving the top two individual fundraisers and the top three teams of fundraisers a free 10-day Vietnam Express Southbound trip as the grand prize.
The Blue Dragon Marathon Walk, which takes place across North America, is an annual event that raises funds for the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, a not-for-profit that provides rescue care, shelter, advocacy and long-term support to children and women who are victims of human trafficking.
This year, certified B-corp tour operator is inviting travel advisors, their team members and other groups within the industry to sign up for one of three different marathon types. A mini marathon is 10 km, a half marathon is 21 km and the full marathon is 42 km.

According to the marathon’s website, $1,000 is enough to bring a person who has been trafficked home to Vietnam. $2,000 provides basic care for ten children living in remote areas for one year. $5,000 is the cost of building a home for one family living in remote Vietnam.
One hundred percent of donated funds will go directly to Blue Dragon. Intrepid’s fundraising target for this year’s marathon is $250,000.
The marathon is Intrepid Travel’s flagship fundraising event, annually bringing together over 300 people across over 15 countries to raise money for the foundation.
“A hugely popular international destination for Intrepid and the industry at large, Vietnamese communities have always welcomed us with open hearts and generous hospitality,” said Intrepid Foundation General Manager Biheng Zhang. “Participating in or sponsoring the marathon walk is our chance as an industry and as travelers to give back.”
