Malta is one of the most welcoming destinations for LGBT travelers. Not only do they allow for same-sex marriage and have a Malta Pride week, but the ILGA-Europe Rainbow map has voted Malta the most LGBTIQ-friendly destination for multiple years.
Malta is looking to capitalize on those honors and assist travel agents who plan vacations for LGBT travelers with a new online training program.
Teaming up with OTT, Malta's new travel agent training program can be found at learnlgbtmalta.org. It will be used to inform travel agents about LGBT-friendly hotels, activities, and places to visit in Malta
Peter Vella, Director UK & Ireland, Malta Tourism Authority told IOL: "We pride ourselves on being a welcoming, safe destination for all travelers and travel agents are key to spreading awareness and the message…"
"It's important for the trade to be equipped with the right facts about LGBTQ+ travel to help travelers make an informed decision".
"We are excited to launch the new training program to engage agents in a target market that is close to our hearts."
Travel agents who complete the course will receive a certificate and be entered into a monthly drawing for a £50 ($64 USD) iTunes voucher.
