Alaska Airlines announced plans to launch new nonstop
seasonal flights this winter from Portland International Airport (PDX) to Yampa
Valley Regional Airport (HDN) near Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
The airline’s new seasonal route will operate Thursdays and
Saturdays from February 11, 2027, through March 28, 2027. The flights were
added to give travelers winter access to Steamboat Springs, a well-known
Colorado ski destination known as “Ski Town, USA.”
Alaska Airlines revealed the Portland-Steamboat Springs
flights will be served by Embraer 175 planes on both legs of the route.
And for those travelers looking to make the trip to Colorado
this winter, the carrier revealed that passengers will be permitted to
transport their ski and snowboard equipment for the standard checked bag fee.
To be eligible for the standard pricing, ski and snowboard
equipment can’t exceed 115 inches linear or 50 pounds; otherwise, customers
will be charged an oversize bag fee.
Earlier this month, Alaska Airlines unveiled plans to boost
service to help travelers see the total
solar eclipse on August 12, with the carrier operating daily seasonal
nonstop flights between Seattle and Reykjavík, Iceland.
