On the heels of its Mileage Plan being named the best airline rewards program in the U.S. for 2015-16, Alaska Airlines made an exciting announcement for members of its frequent flier program Wednesday, revealing a pair of expanded offerings courtesy of its partnership with American Airlines.
Beginning Aug. 15, the airline's Board Room members will be able to access all 54 of American Airlines' Admiral Club locations across the world.
Then, as of Oct. 17, Alaska Airlines' Mileage Plan members will have access to approximately 3,000 additional daily American Airlines flights. As announced last month, the final US Airways flight is scheduled to be completed Oct. 17, at which time all future US Airways flights will bear American Airlines' code.
"With American's expanded network, our loyal customers will enjoy earning and redeeming miles for travel to more than 60 additional American Airlines destinations worldwide," Alaska Airlines executive vice president and chief revenue officer Andrew Harrison said in a statement.
"We are excited to deepen the strong relationship we already have with Alaska Airlines by providing customers more access to more destinations," said American Airlines' chief marketing officer Andrew Nocella in a statement.
Alaska Airline's elite Mileage Plan members are already able to receive benefits while flying American Airlines' expanded network. Those benefits include expedited security, priority check-in and boarding, complimentary or discounted access to Main Cabin Extra seats and baggage waivers.
The recent announcement comes just one month after the SeaTac-based carrier announced a partnership with Hainan Airlines allowing Mileage Plan members to earn rewards while traveling the Chinese carrier's global network.
