Alaska Airlines is starting a new partnership with the oldest commercial airline in Asia. The Seattle-based carrier announced on Thursday it would be teaming up with Philippine Airlines to offer members of both airlines’ loyalty programs reciprocal benefits.
As the partnership is rolled out in the coming months, Alaska passengers will be able to book flights on Philippine Airlines through Alaska’s website, as well as earn and redeem Alaska Mileage Plan miles on flights operated by Philippine.
The two airlines’ route networks complement each other well, with Philippine Airlines operating several nonstop flights to Manila from Alaska’s hubs on the West Coast of the United States and in Honolulu. The Manila-based carrier flies three nonstops a week from Seattle, two daily nonstops from Los Angeles, and a daily nonstop from San Francisco. Plus, it has five Manila-bound nonstops a week departing from Honolulu.
From Manila, Philippine Airlines connects to dozens of destinations within the island nation and throughout Asia.
Alaska will be Philippine Airlines’ first partner carrier in North America. The new partnership is an expansion of the existing agreement that Hawaiian Airlines has with Philippine Airlines, which saw the Asian carrier operating codeshare flights for Hawaiian. In September 2024, Alaska acquired Hawaiian Airlines.
With the expanded agreement passengers on Hawaiian Airlines will soon be able to earn and redeem Mileage Plan miles on Philippine Airlines flights.
"Philippine Airlines is a terrific addition to our roster of global airlines offering world-class service and amenities," said Brett Catlin, vice president of loyalty, alliances and sales at Alaska Airlines. “The large Filipino communities living in Hawaii, California and Washington state can travel on Philippine Airlines long-haul, widebody aircraft and soon earn valuable Mileage Plan miles on their transpacific journeys."
The new agreement with Philippine Airlines brings Alaska’s total number of airline partnerships to 32.
