American Airlines will increase its service to Cancun for the upcoming 2023-24 winter season, according to the Riviera Maya News.
Cancun and the Riviera Maya have always been a popular destination in the winter for its quick and nonstop flights, and its proximity to the United States.
“As the leading U.S. airline in Mexico, we are excited to bring together our International Operations leadership team in Cancun to discuss our 2023 achievements as well as our goals for the coming year,” said Jose A. Freig, Vice President of Operations and Commercial for Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America. “This coming winter, we’re looking forward to adding more service to the destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean that our customers want to visit including popular spots like Cancun, Montego Bay and Punta Cana, as well as our newest destination, Tortola. We are proud to strengthen our lead as the largest U.S. airline in the region with more flights and seats to more destinations than any other single carrier or partnership.”
The service from American’s hub in Charlotte will begin on December 5 with 10 additional flights.
American will also add service to Cancun out of Nashville and Cincinnati. Those flights will begin on December 9.
By the winter, American will offer more than 50 daily flights from its hub and headquarters at Dallas-Fort Worth alone, including 35 flights to Cancun.
American’s International Division also helped launch a toy drive for a Mexican children’s Hospital.
“This week, the International Division came together to give back to a community that has been part of American’s history for more than 40 years,” said José María Giraldo, Managing Director for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. “It was incredibly meaningful to see our team members from around the world join our friends at the Aitana Foundation and be able to bring so much joy to children.”
